Preparatory Stretches to Go Deeper & Further Into Your Yoga Pose
You need this ticket from Eventbrite to sign up: Early Bird/VIP Participant Registration Full Weekend 2016. Friday Pass Only at India House TYC FULL PASS
The Preparatory Stretch Workshop is designed to address the muscles and tendons in areas of your body that lack flexibility, joint mobility, strength, and balance. Muscle Flexibility leads to Joint Mobility. Remember, a flexible muscle is much stronger than a tight/contracted muscle. By improving the flexibility of the muscles, you improve the mobility of the joint. This is where yoga meets stretching, deep tissue massage meets fascia release, and your muscles meet their true flexibility. Unwind what you tighten up. Reverse the tight, inflexible, immobile state of muscles, tendons, and joints into fully functioning, pain-free, flexible, strong, youthful muscles, tendons, and joints with the Campbell Flex Stretch Revolution Workshops. The stretches in the Preparatory Stretch Workshop are the stretches that will unwind what you tighten up, release the pain in your body, get you further and deeper into your yoga poses.

Yoga nidra or "yogic sleep" is a state of consciousness between waking and sleeping, like the "going-to-sleep" stage. It is a state in which the body is completely relaxed, and the practitioner becomes systematically and increasingly aware of the inner world by following a set of (audio) instructions. This state of consciousness (yoga nidra) is different to meditation in which concentration on a single focus is required. In yoga nidra the practitioner remains in a state of light pratyahara with four of his senses internalised (withdrawn) and only the hearing still connects to the instructions. The yogic goal of both paths, deep relaxation (yoga nidra) and meditation are the same, a state called samadhi.

Yoga nidra, lucid sleep, is among the deepest possible states of relaxation while still maintaining full consciousness. In lucid dreaming, one is only (or mainly) cognizant of the dream environment, and has little or no awareness of one's actual environment. The practice of yoga relaxation[clarification needed] has been found to reduce tension and anxiety. The autonomic symptoms of high anxiety such as headache, giddiness, chest pain, palpitations, sweating and abdominal pain respond well. It has been used to help soldiers from war cope with posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Yoga nidra refers to the conscious awareness of the deep sleep state, referred to as prajna in Mandukya Upanishad.

Breath is man’s soul companion and most valuable treasure.   The physical act of breathing is said to have a very subtle influence on the level of consciousness. It strongly influences our sensory facilities and it's influence is very palpable.  “The ancient yogic technique of breathing converts the breath into mind or to cognize the breath as an act of mind. A dream breath.  The breath saturates and feeds all cells with un-decaying light and keeps them in a magnetized state”. Paramahansa Yogananda
Breathing is therefore more than a simple physical action each breath has an underlying significance and a particular coded message, it brings you to the doorway of meditation, awakes your highest human potential and brings you to the true home of your own mind and heart. www.heightsschoolofyoga.com

TaiJi-using the creative power of the mind’s intention, life-force energy (Qi) is mobilized and guided through the body.  Thus it is said that the mind moves the Qi, the Qi moves the body.  The circular, slow, fluid movements of taiji transform hardness into softness, dissolve tension to relaxation.  Taiji’s rhythmic movements create and cultivate peace and stillness of mind, awareness of breathing patterns, heightened body coordination and sensitivity, a firmer connection to the earth and heaven, and a deeper connection to the spirit.  Good health and well being are just the side effects.  So it is that a peaceful and healthy mind creates a peaceful, healthy body, whose energy creates a peaceful healthy interaction with the community and the world.

Yoga Revolution: How Yoga Alliance Serves and Supports the Growing Yoga Community

Yoga Alliance was formed 1999 to offer standards for yoga teacher training and a registry to recognize yoga teachers and schools whose training met the designed minimum Standards. Since then, it has gone through a lot of changes.  Yoga Alliance has been on a growth path that aligns with the growth of yoga and the industry.

Today, Yoga Alliance supports the yoga community and provides more resources than ever before. Through free online workshops, that are eligible for continuing education, discounts on liability insurance and yoga products, advocacy support, scholarships, yoga industry research and visibility on the registry, Yoga Alliance has created supportive resources and partnerships that help yoga teachers and business owners find solutions to their issues and exposure channels for their offerings. Find out about the work Yoga Alliance is currently doing to grow, serve, support and protect the yoga community by speaking with Board Member, Roger Rippy, E-RYT 500, a local yoga teacher, student and owner of a RYS 200 and RYS 300 and studio in Houston, Texas.  Learn how Yoga Alliance rallied to support yoga schools in Texas and elsewhere when threatened with government regulation.

A Trip Around the Hips: Hip Opening Class
Many yoga students hear "hip opening" and think about long holds in frog pose or pigeon pose. Hip opening actually  involves a "trip around the hips" where the front, back, inner and outer regions of the hip are both stabilized and mobilized. This session will move beyond typical hip-opening classes and focus on the intelligent articulation of the femur in the hips socket through a  variety of standing, seated and reclined postures that will help students of all levels gain practical ways to make progress in all categories of postures. Whether you want deeper back bends, more advanced arm balances or a sense of calm and equanimity, hip opening will help! All levels. Not good for knee injuries.

Everything in the universe is filled with light, energy and vibration.

Yet in times filled with impossible ungroundedness, we have become disengaged and disconnected from our inner fluidity.

This fluid nature covers every part of who we are, every aspect of our lives and every single breath we take and this powerfully healing fluidity is intrinsically connected to the sacred feminine and it is with in this realm, that we can truly heal, ground down and open up.

In this flow based class, we tap into these vibrations to reawaken Shakti and effectively bridge the gap between our disconnected paradigms and the true nature of the universe around and with in.

It is time to remember, it is time to dance, to rejoice and to awaken and honor the sacred feminine so that we may rise again from the ashes and bring forth pure light into our lives and the lives of those around us. Are you ready to embody your true essence? If so, this is the class that is calling to you through the mists.

Rahu and Ketu - Attraction and Repulsion
How to find your center of gravity

A great deal of, strength, flexibility, endurance, fluidity and surrender are required to be able to hold Asana that require balance. The key is to neither move too much to one side or another, nor remain perfectly still.  Razor thin equilibrium which needs refreshing moment to moment is what brings success.  This same sustained effort is also needed in our day to day life in the areas of life influenced by Rahu and Ketu in our Vedic horoscope. In Yogic teachings these are the most destined forces of Karma as well as the primary indicators in our horoscope of where and when we are likely to lose control and fall into extremes. Sustained effort on the mat will help bring balance into our thoughts, emotions and actions but without deep knowledge of these karmic forces in our subconscious that are waiting to derail us at any moment we may be doing our Yoga practice in the dark.

Join me to learn how to find your center of gravity and dance around its edges with knowledge of Rahu and Ketu in Vedic Astrology.

The Practice of Researched Yogic Relaxation
You need this ticket from Eventbrite to sign up: Early Bird/VIP Participant Registration Full Weekend 2016. Sunday Workshops + FUNday Acro Yoga Festival TYC FULL PASS

**Bring a yoga mat and a blanket to join the practice.
